My Journey

Samantha Wen is an Emmy nominated hair-stylist who came to the United States from Beijing China in December of 1999. When Samantha moved to the US to live with her sister, she didn’t speak a word of English. Although she graduated from a prestigious cosmetology school in Beijing, her license wasn’t accepted in the States. The first thing Samantha did was take English classes 5 days a week and immediately immerse herself into learning a brand new language. Samantha proved to be a quick learner and with her sisters help went back to cosmetology school and redeemed her license in the States.

Samantha is a living breathing example of the American dream along with her beloved family and son. Determination, dependability, hard work and not being afraid to fail are a few of Samantha’s trademarks. This work ethic have enabled Samantha to propel herself to her current status as an in demand hair stylist in the television and movie industry. One of the proudest moments in her life is when she swore her allegiance to United States of America in 2007. Samantha has worked in the entertainment industry since 2005, starting with Fox 11 news styling all of the news anchors hair. She worked on Good Day LA where she styled Steve Edward and Jillian Reynolds hair along with a plethora of celebrity guests. After 5 years at Fox news she decided to try her hand at network television. Her first TV show was Medium on CBS. Then she was lucky enough to land a job on the ABC sitcom Happy Endings. Samantha has been with this show all three seasons and was promoted to key hair stylist in season 2. From 2013-2014, Samantha had the privilege and opportunity to work on one of the most popular television series; How I Met Your Mother. Additionally, Samantha also worked multiple seasons on The Voice for which she was nominated twice for an Emmy in 2011 and 2014. Samantha is getting Film work as well, having worked with Benicio Del Toro on the Oliver Stone film Savages and Wonder Woman 2; she continues to expand her knowledge by taking classes whenever possible. At last, Samantha loves her job and looks forward to working with and learning from creative and talented people.
